Equioils Leg Oil Conditioner

A unique blend of essential and mineral oils that we have developed and refined over many generations to achieve optimum skin health and feather quality.

Equioils Leg Oil Conditioner works on three key principles.

1. To promote skin health

It all starts at the root. Feather is only ever going to be as good as the skin it’s growing from. Equioils Leg Oil conditioner contains lavender oil to restore and promote the skins natural barrier. Rich in antioxidants, lavender oil draws out toxins and balances the skins natural pH levels. Lavender oil possesses anti fungal, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which soothes inflammation and supports healing. And most importantly, it discourages biting insects such as the dreaded Choriptes equi, also know as feather mite.

2. To stimulate feather growth

Now to get the hair growing. Equioils Leg Oil Conditioner contains coconut oil to condition the hair and provide essential nourishment. Coconut oil is rich in vitamins and fatty acids, in particular lauric acid which restores the follicles natural lipid barrier. Whilst lauric acid penetrates deep in to the hair cortex to strengthen the hair shaft and prevent breakages, the medium-chain fatty acids combat dryness.

3. Provide a protective barrier

And finally protect. Equioils Leg Oil Conditioner Contains mineral oil, more commonly know as pig oil, which not only provides the carrier for the other Leg Oil Conditioner ingredients but more importantly creates the protective barrier needed to shield the newly conditioned skin and feather against all weather conditions.

Equioils Mallenders & Sallenders Salve

You'll recognize Mallenders and Sallenders (hyperkeratosis) as hard crusty and scaly thickened scabs, which can occur on all four legs. We encounter it mainly in two typical places, namely back of the carpal joint of the forelimb (in the crease at the back of the knee on the front legs) referred to as “Mallenders” and also on the hind limb in front of the hock referred to as “Sallenders”. They are triggered by an abnormal quantity of keratin being produced.  Mallender and Sallender vary in severity between each horse or pony and unfortunately there is no cure however they can be well managed through regular maintenance.

Equioils M&S Salve is a tripartite natural oil-based salve, for the effective treatment of Mallenders & Sallenders. By reducing the dry dead skin, it promotes and stimulates the growth of new healthier skin/feather creating a protective barrier, when used as part of routine maintenance.

1. Promotes skin health

Contains Zinc Oxide which has the ability to heal wounds, soothe irritation and facilitate the growth of new tissue. Lavender Oil draws out toxins and balances the skins natural pH levels and also possesses antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which combat a range of systemic skin problems in feathered equines. It also discourages Chorioptes equi known as feather mites. Tea Tree Oil is natures antiseptic, and it also has anti-fungal, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which help reduce inflammation and triggers the activity of white blood cells that are instrumental in the healing process.

2. Stimulates skin/feather growth

Contains Coconut, Jojoba, Rosehip, Vitamin E oil and Mango butter to sooth the skin and provide nourishment. All are high in vitamins and medium-chain fatty acids which help to combat dryness and work with vitamins A, B, C and E to stimulate the old skin cells to regenerate, therefore promoting the production of new collagen. All having anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties, thus helping to prevent secondary infections and maintain skin hydration.

3. Creates a protective barrier

Contains Bees wax as a natural barrier along with antibacterial agents and vitamin A. Both of these qualities can help the skin stay hydrated. It locks the precious regenerative oils in the skin, whilst moisturising and protecting. Creating a protective layer to the skin which does not clog the pores.
